Over the past 30+ years, hundreds of layers of graffiti paint have built up in outdoor public areas across Sydneys inner west where murals are regularly painted over. This build up of paint falls off over time, littering parks and streets with chunks of layered paint. We scavange Sydney graffiti hot-spots collecting the discarded pieces, giving them a new life as jewels.

Yes. The material is a similar idea but with a build up of spray paint rather than car paint.

The materials are all acquired sustainably, scavenged off the ground in public areas or broken off crumbling walls. No current showing street art is ever removed or damaged.

No two pieces of graffiti ore are exactly alike in size. There are even slight variations between each earring in a pair. As its hard to get an idea of size from photos, we have included the approximate size of each piece on the product page, in different ways according to each type. Studs: The larger of the two studs height / width, to the closest mm Drop earrings: Length of the full earring from the top of the hook to the bottom of the earring to the closest .5cm Block pieces: Height, width, depth to the closest mm

All Graffiti Ore pieces are coasted in a thin layer of epoxy resin. This seals the paint in and protects the piece from damage. They are non toxic and completely safe to wear.

Graffiti Ore earrings are specifically designed for wearers with sensitive ears. All our silver hooks are high grade 925 sterling silver and contain extremely minimal amounts of nickel and our surgical steel is hypoallergenic. For severe allergies please get in touch for completely nickel free titanium hooks that we can make to order.

Because every piece is different we won't always have a full range online. Please get in touch if you want something specific made or different hooks/hoops.

The paint chunks are deceptivley light, making even the larger earrings kind on the ear holes

We do indeed. All orders are sent out via Australia Post unless arranged otherwise prior to shipping. You will be notified via email with a tracking number once the item has been sent.

All of our drop earrings are hung on clasp wire hoops designed specifically for graffiti ore designs. Similar to kidney wires, (but rounder) there is a nook at the bottom of the hoop for the stone to sit in and the clasp at the back ensures your earring doesn't fall out. Each pair is made by hand from recycled 925 sterling silver wire measuring between 2.5-3cm length.

Because of the nature of the material, the paint showing on each side differs. All of our drop earrings and pendants are designed to easily reverse the piece to show the other side. To reverse drop earrings, simply take the stone out of the hook where your ear usually goes it and flip it over before putting it back in.
